If you are planning to virtualize business critical applications or if you have already done it, you should think to most important security aspects to protect it. Have you thought to the hardening of virtual machines and of the hypervisors? Have thought to protect information with a completely integrated with VMWare Data loss prevention solution? Have you included your virtual environment in your compliance framework and event logging and correlation approach. All of this is not just having an Antivirus solution for the virtual environment it is securing it in line with needs of your business regardless of the physical or virtual environment.

What are the ingredients and conditions for a successful SaaS model? What are the factors that affect the cost? Which is the effective price model for these services? During the past years, enterprises in Greece and worldwide, are interested only in projects that combine business view and business value. This has led many IT companies to develop pay as you grow models for their solutions, which they repackage as a business service. The software as a service is very important for this effort, but there are still issues that concern both IT vendors and end customers.

Deploying a virtualization and private or public cloud computing environment calls for a strategy to ensure a secure move into this complex and dynamic model. Unfortunately, legacy security solutions for a physical datacenter impede adoption of these technologies because they are not virtualization or cloud-aware.
In contrast, next-generation solutions specifically designed to secure this environment can decrease risk, increase performance, simplify management, and ultimately future-proof datacenter security. To this arena, Trend Micro delivers proven leadership in safeguarding data, forward-thinking technology such as the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network, and innovative solutions that ensure business continuity and regulatory compliance. Deep Security is a solution that secure your datacenter environment. Unlike traditional security software, works equally well in all environments, physical, virtual and in the cloud, giving the same protection for all your data, whether it is on a conventional server, a virtual server or stored in a third-party ‘cloud’ system.

A hands on presentation explaining the advantages of global cloud based service providers and the different services and applications offered to obtain immediate business value by lowering IT operational cost when using the cloud.
We discuss technologies and architectures for building large scale cloud applications deployed in public IaaS, PaaS and private clouds. The presentation is based on actual case studies: (a) a cloud file storage service (and open source project) currently deployed in private clouds in Greece & Croatia and as a SaaS in the Amazon Cloud, (b) an Android mobile cloud backup application, (c) a Google Appengine-based medical SaaS application, (d) a large scale (~300.000 users) distributed information system that supports a public service in Greece. We focus on technical issues in cloud software as well as high scalability and availability design patterns.
One major concern of IT professionals is how to improve efficiency while keeping the overall running costs as low as possible. In this lab, Lancom describes the benefits of virtualization and cloud computing, using practical examples and case studies. Common myths are thoroughly analyzed and dispelled, while migration issues expose the need for targeted P2V strategies, resulting in a greater resource allocation overall.

The VMware cloud computing approach also dramatically simplifies IT services provisioning and deployment, so IT organizations can respond more quickly to business needs. At the same time, it allows IT staff to implement policies consistent with business and governance requirements, providing the control IT needs to minimize business and regulatory risk. An effective cloud strategy also means ensuring security and eliminating the need to constantly reconfigure static security infrastructure for this dynamic computing environment. Cloud computing allows IT organizations to maintain full control over the availability, reliability, scalability, security and service level agreements (SLAs) for all workloads.

and Antonis Valakas, Cloud Services Business Development Manager, Performance
As computing environments become business critical in modern enterprises, delivering the majority of business services among organization stakeholders and external customers, the agility, efficiency and speed at which IT services are implemented, distributed and decommissioned play increasingly important roles in affecting the way organizations perform.
Modern information solutions offer all the ingredients that, when orchestrated carefully, can speed up service delivery to customers, offer accurate information to decision makers, control and constrain cost and at the end of the day, operate as a profit center for the organization.
The question is if there is a way to deliver an automation solution that can boost the efficiency of IT services, offer more agility to end customers and control and report on information resource usage and consumption. In this presentation, we will describe a solution that leverages on today’s infrastructure platforms and bridges the gap between end customers, business processes and IT resource consumption, offering at the same time governance, control and agility. At the end of the day, this solution enables end customers to consume IT infrastructure and applications, hence, as tapping into a cloud of information management services, selecting the desired “product”, associated service level and charging scheme.
